Extra Spinnaker for Category 3 and above Races a. Suggested wording for your NOR:
In accordance with IRC Rule 21.6.2(b) US SAILING prescribes that for races under US jurisdiction for events that require compliance with Offshore Special Regulations Category 3 and above, a boat may carry one more spinnaker than shown on her current IRC certificate.
Racers: Note that the area of the additional spinnaker (or any other on-board) cannot be greater than rated SPA.
Race Organizers: For this prescription to be in effect for your event, per 21.6.2(b) you must in your Notice of Race (NOR)
1. Require compliance with ISAF Special Regulations Category 3 or above.
2. Reference that this prescription is being used.
In accordance with IRC Rule 21.6.2(b) a boat may carry one more spinnaker than shown on her current IRC certificate of area not greater than rated SPA without an increase in rating.
